# How do I ensure my Test Cases are controlled before I create Test Executions?

To ensure my Test Cases are controlled before you execute your Tests, You can use the "Require Test Executions after controlled Test Cases" Setting. If this is enabled, a Test Execution will only be taken into account if it was created **after** the Test Case entered **a controlled state,** meaning executions created before the Test Case was controlled will not be included. Conversely if this is disabled, Test executions can be effective even if they're not explicitly part of the test plan.

1. **Where is this setting located?**
   - Navigate to Advanced Project Settings.
   - Look for the "Test management" section
