# Can Ketryx invalidate items that use custom workflows?

Absolutely! As those who use custom workflows may already know, the [Approval Workflow advanced setting](https://docs.ketryx.com/reference/advanced-settings#approval-workflow) allows Ketryx users to define the Approval widget's behavior in Jira for statuses and transitions outside of the Ketryx standard workflow.

In addition to this, you are able to set the property _invalidatedTransitionStatus_ as the status that an item should transition to if something about that item changes after it entered a controlled state. Setting this property in the Approval Workflow advanced setting is only effective in combination with setting the advanced setting _Enable item invalidation_ to "Yes".

Once this is done, items that change while in the state for which you have set _invalidatedTransitionStatus_ will transition to that status automatically, often requiring reapproval of the change.
